8 Steps to being more creative

Let's get creative!

Sometimes I wish I was more creative in writing, art, photography, just everything. I feel like I don't have much imagination when it comes to being creative. I wish I did! I used to think that you have to be born with a creative mind, but that's not true, just as you can learn anything else you can also learn how to be more creative.

If you have this same issue maybe these tips can help:

Write down all your ideas
Think of different ways you can use objects in your home. Don't worry if some of them sound stupid or weird, you're just creating a list. After you've created a good list of ideas, look them over and choose all the great ones. And don't be afraid of using some of the weird ones.

Do some research
It's okay to search up some ideas as long as it's your own work in the end. Sometimes reading articles or other blogs can help give you creative ideas.

Talk about your ideas
Sometimes it helps when a good friend looks over your ideas and give you some pointers. Maybe one of the ideas you thought were stupid are actually really good.

Take a class
Get out of your comfort zone and sign up for a painting class, or a photography class. It can help flourish creativity.

Ask a child
Children are so creative, it amazes me. Ask your little brother, sister, cousin, niece, nephew about your ideas. Children have the benefit of not knowing what is impossible. Maybe we should think more like children.

Grab a sketch pad and draw anything. You don't have to know how to draw good just doodle anything. According to research, doodling can help you focus, find solutions to problems, and help you better deal with problems. (Who knew?)

I know sometimes we daydream when we aren't supposed to, but I honestly get some good ideas when I daydream. Allowing your mind to wonder can bring creative thoughts.

Take a walk
If you've read any of my previous posts, you've probably noticed that I always say 'take a walk.' Taking walks can help in so many different ways for so many different situations. Just go out, breath and relax. Look up at the sky, you might get some creative ideas.

If you can think of any other ideas on how to become more creative feel free to let me know!
