Depression

Depression is not being stressed enough!

So many people of all ages are suffering from depression. And we are brushing it off like it's nothing. People kill themselves because they are not getting the help they need and because they feel alone. Whether small or severe depression is a big thing, and needs to be treated immediately.

Someone who is suffering from depression thinks differently. So many things go through their minds. They feel worthless, like everyone is better off without them, their world feels like a dark place, nothing feels comforting or worth living for. " What was challenging feels overwhelming; what was sad feels unbearable; what felt joyful feels pleasureless; what was once beautiful now looks ugly."



I recently took a course, structure and function of the human body, and I had to create a PowerPoint on a disease and then present it. I chose depression because that topic has always been so important to me, and I know what it's like to be depressed. I talked about how depression affects the brain, treatments, symptoms and short and long term affects. Right after I presented we went on a short break and some girl's behind me told me that they liked my presentation and asked me how I got over my depression. I told them that it's not easy and that they should talk to someone that they trust about their depression, talking to someone helps so much. It felt so good to know that they were actually listening to my presentation and they took something from it.




Just simply talking about depression can help others because they see that they are not alone. Even just listening to them can help tremendously. If you know someone who is suffering from depression help them in every way that you can. And if you're suffering from depression talk to someone about it, get help. Do not feel ashamed to ask for help. Your life is too precious. ♡
